(Lyrics of the song Changes, courtesy by 3 Doors Down)
A girl shrouded in a black cloak ran away from a crime scene where, seconds before, she had stabbed a man pursuing her in the gut. She knew what he had wanted, but she wouldn't let him have her. Nonetheless, she committed a crime in killing him. She could already hear police sirens as they searched for the man's killer, but everyone would know who had done it anyway.
Everyone knew this thief's alias, Crimsonsword. The name was so earned because both she and the police noticed that all of her crime scenes were covered in a lot of blood, and the weapon had often been a knife.
Sombra hadn't originally intended to become a killer, but in order to live on the streets of the large city that she dwelled in, she had to steal to eat. Sometimes she had to defend herself when someone tried to apprehend her from stealing, and sometimes she had to kill just so she wouldn't be sexually abused by low-life men.
Nobody knew her real name, mainly because she should have died in an accident like both of her parents. Miraculously, she had emerged from the inferno of inflamed cars (a train had derailed right by the road) with little injuries. Sadly, nobody noticed her leave the scene. Now, she has to fend for herself in the best ways she can.
Running into a side alley that she knew well, the Latino girl brushed her long, dark brown hair back into the confines of the cloak that she was wearing. The hooded cloak concealed most of her body, save for her feet, and her face was looked upon only in the beholder's death.
Leaning against one of the grimy walls to catch her breath, she mentally cursed herself. Why did she have to try and break into that old abandoned warehouse, trying to see if it had any good food for her? How was she supposed to know that a predator was in there, intent on catching girls like herself? She didn't ask for the death that her hands brought her; All of it was in self-defense of herself from the authorities and others who wished to hurt her.
Suddenly, she heard a small cry from down the alley. Worried about what it was, her curiosity eventually got the better of her and she went to check it out, unsheathing one of her four knives as she went. She found a young Elekid curled beneath a box, and the poor thing looked like it was in pain. Compassion flooded her heart, and she decided to try and look after it.
Eventually, she nursed the Elekid back to health through her own efforts, and she nicknamed him Thor. She bought a pokeball for him with money she had stolen (she was only recognized when she was in her black cloak, and the rest of her is concealed with black clothes. Without wearing the cloak, she could go out in public without attracting too much attention) and the two of them shared her home together, which was the apartment where both her and her parents had used to live. (It wasn't condemned then)
One day, as a normal person, she battled a kid with a Diglett, but poor Thor lost horribly to the mini-mole. Trying to establish a name for herself and give up her life in crime, Sombra and Thor stubbornly battled for a long time, attempting to win money from them. Sadly, they lost each time.
One evening, there was a strong storm, and it nearly caused the old structure to crumble down. An old antenna on the building was struck by lightning...
~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, after their last disappointing battle, Sombra and Elekid had went back to their apartment for the evening. They had been participating in a tournament the night before, so they hadn't been able to return home. Sombra was debating whether or not to return to crime, since she hadn't coordinated any raids in a month (since she had found Thor) and they were going hungry.
As they came near the bottom part of the stairs, a strange glow came from the basement. Both of them checked it out, and a door from a storage room down there was wide open, letting in...sunlight? Impossible!
Both of them were curious, and they entered through the door, walked down a long shadowy hallway, and emerged into what appeared to be a storeroom in the ground floor near a window, which was letting in sunlight. As soon as the door was shut, Sombra whipped around again and opened it back up. Strangely, there was nothing there but cleaning supplies. Weird...
Thor and Sombra decided to explore the building, and after going down a few halls, they entered into what looked like a registration lobby.
A woman in a uniform (the receptionist) looked up when she noticed Sombra and Thor standing in front of her. "Would you like to apply for Team Kratos?"
"Erm..." Sombra started, not sure how to put things. "What's Team Kratos?"
"Don't you know by now, girl?" the woman said, rolling her eyes. "Team Kratos rules this whole landmass by force! Although I must admit, I don't know our true aims...But would you like to join our evil organization?"
Sombra paused for a moment, unsure. She had been forced into evil by her own misfortunes, and she was little more than a murderer, right? She wasn't that far from evil, and it seemed as though evil was carving out her only way of living in life.
"Sure. Both of us will join. Where do we sign in?"
I'm not supposed to be scared of anything, but I don't know where I am
I wish that I could move but I'm exhausted and nobody understands (how I feel)
I'm trying hard to breathe now but there's no air in my lungs
There's no one here to talk to and the pain inside is making me numb
I try to hold this Under control
They can't help me 'Cause no one knows
Now I'm going through changes, changes
God, I feel so frustrated lately
When I get suffocated, save me
Now I'm going through changes, changes
